The short version

The SparkQuest app keeps your children's profiles and progress on your computer. It does not send their answers or progress to us or anyone else, and children never need an account or email address.

On this website we collect what a parent chooses to give us when signing up, and we use it to provide SparkQuest and, if you agree, to send you updates. We also use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use the site so we can improve it.

What we collect on this website

When you sign up we collect your email address and, if you provide them, your first name, your children's grade levels, and whether you'd like to receive news and tips. We also note whether you signed up from a Mac, Windows or other device so we can point you to the right download.

This website is for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it.

Website analytics

This website uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use it: which pages and sections they view, where they click and scroll, and where they run into trouble. Clarity records these interactions as session replays and heatmaps, along with general details such as your device type, browser, approximate location and the site that referred you. We use this only to improve the website, never for advertising.

Text you type into forms, such as your email address, is masked before it leaves your browser, so it never appears in recordings. Clarity only sets its cookies (_clck and _clsk, which recognize repeat visits) if you choose “Allow” on our cookie notice. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.

Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement (privacy.microsoft.com). The SparkQuest app itself contains no analytics.

How we use it

We use your sign-up details to give you access to the SparkQuest download and to contact you about your sign-up. If you opted in, we'll also send occasional news, new missions and learning tips — every email includes an unsubscribe link.

We don't sell your information and we don't share it with advertisers. We use Resend, our email service provider, to store your sign-up details and send emails on our behalf.

Purchases

Payments for the Full Adventure are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details; we never see your full card number. We receive your name, email address, billing country and postal code (to work out sales tax) and your order details, so we can deliver your license key and help with your purchase. Stripe handles this data under its privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy).

Your license key is emailed to you through Resend, the email service we use to send purchase emails.

Purchases can only be started by a grown-up, from the PIN-protected Parent Dashboard or this website. Children are never asked to buy anything.

What the app stores

SparkQuest saves each child's name, avatar, grade, answers, progress and settings in a file on your computer, along with a backup copy. Troubleshooting logs are also kept on your computer and are only shared if you choose to send them to us.

If you unlock the Full Adventure, the app sends your license key and a generic label such as “SparkQuest on a Mac” to our license server at sparkquest.kids to activate it, then re-checks the key about once a week when the computer is online. Nothing about your children is included.

The app has no ads, no in-app messaging and no analytics tracking. Uninstalling SparkQuest and deleting its data folder removes everything it stored.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from emails at any time, or ask us to access, correct or delete your sign-up details by emailing hello@sparkquest.kids.
